Tonight continues the first week of Second Chance for Season 37 contestants. If you’re wondering what’s going on this season & where these contestants came from, I wrote a quick explainer last week.
I’ll be continuing to publish all my full recaps right here on Substack, but you may also see me posting on various social media (links on my Linktree). I’m still trying to figure out what social media site feels right for live Jeopardy! commentary beyond Twitter, so bear with me!
Hari Parameswaran
Original Airdate: 4/28/21
Original Occupation: college student
Original Hometown: Xenia, OH
Original Host: Anderson Cooper
White shirts without a jacket/sweater are a rare choice on Jeopardy! They generally recommend against solid white outfits because of the way white reflect light on camera, though this seems to work fine with Hari’s complexion. (Hari’s shirt does have a subtle stripe pattern, reminiscent of his blue shirt back in 2021 which had a small dotted pattern.)
Did you notice Hari’s interesting buzzer technique?
Donna Vorreyer
Original Airdate: 4/19/21
Original Occupation: writer & retired teacher
Original Hometown: Willowbrook, IL
Original Host: Anderson Cooper
Donna’s glasses were one of the pieces that caught my eye on my initial scroll through the contestant headshots. They coordinate beautifully with her pendant and blouse. I LOVE this blouse, from the shade of blue to the square neckline to the flowy sleeves! Her glasses and outfit in 2021 were also color-coordinated in shades of red. Very well put together!
Matt Wierman
Original Airdate: 3/8/21
Original Occupation: aerospace engineer
Original Hometown: originally Lake Mary, FL
Original Host: Katie Couric
This is a classic & classy Jeopardy! outfit (reminds me of Tyler Rhode’s first outfit). And it looks like Matt is wearing the exact same outfit as he wore in his initial appearance (with the addition of a beard.) Based on headshots on the website, I think he is the only contestant in Second Chance to wear the same outfit as in their first appearance.
Ken Jennings
Ken has worn this black & grey tie four times. He also has a blue one in the same pattern.
We got a glimpse of the audience and the judges table! Looks like most of the same judges as the games taped in May (no writers present!)
