Another week of Second Chance with nine more Season 37 contestants. (If you’re wondering what’s going on this season & where these contestants came from, I wrote a quick explainer last week.)
I’ll be continuing to publish all my full recaps right here on Substack, and maybe or maybe not posting on social media (links on my Linktree).
First, an update from last night’s recap! Jilana was nice enough to send me a link to where she got her amazing pink dress.
The contestants are usually pictured in podium order on the Contestant Zone, but tonight’s lineup is out of order!
David Kaye
Original Airdate: 1/4/21
Original Occupation: high school English teacher
Original Hometown: Scottsdale, AZ
Original Host: Alex Trebek
David is wearing basically the same outfit as his first appearance - a navy suit with a blue shirt tonight. I admire his consistency!
Michalle Gould
Original Airdate: 3/12/21
Original Occupation: librarian
Original Hometown: originally from Austin, TX
Original Host: Katie Couric
I love the rib knit texture of Michalle’s cardigan sweater! It’s very librarian chic. I think it would pop on TV a little more in a bright color though!
Her outfit for her original appearance looks to be a navy cardigan (I can’t see much from this headshot!)
Ollie Savage
Original Airdate: 2/26/21
Original Occupation: English & film studies teacher
Original Hometown: Burbank, CA
Original Host: Mike Richards
Ok, you KNOW I had feelings about this outfit! A plaid shirt under a navy quarter zip under a grey blazer. As you can see from his previous headshot below, Ollie is a big fan of multiple layers! But honestly, I think he pulls it off? I pretty much always believe a crew/v-neck sweater looks better than a quarter zip, and I would stand by that opinion here too… but my biggest beef with quarter zips is that they often appear too casual/lazy and this intentional look is certainly neither.
Ken Jennings
This red tie with squares is one of Ken’s most often worn ties - this is the 8th time he has worn it since he started hosting at the beginning of Season 38 (I wasn’t tracking during his initial guest hosting weeks in Season 37.) I like all his plaid suits, but this grey windowpane plaid is a standout because you can clearly see the pattern on screen (I’ve noticed some of the busier plaids kind of get lost on camera.
I’m clearing out some sample inventory from my Etsy store - check out what I have listed at 50% off (I may be adding a few more things this week.)
