This is the second week of Season 37 Second Chance, with nine new contestants. (If you’re wondering what’s going on this season & where these contestants came from, I wrote a quick explainer last week.)
I’ll be continuing to publish all my full recaps right here on Substack, and maybe or maybe not posting on social media (links on my Linktree).
Rob Kim
Original Airdate: 2/5/21
Original Occupation: attorney
Original Hometown: Portland, OR
Original Host: Ken Jennings
Rob’s outfit tonight, like his outfit in his first appearance, is a pretty standard dress shirt & suit combo. I like the small details though — the contrast stitching on the suit buttonhole caught my eye, and his white shirt is crisply ironed.
We also got to see Rob’s proud dad in the audience today! I know I say it every episode, but I love that we’ve been getting camera shots of the audience often during this run of Second Chance episodes.
Morgan Halvorsen
Original Airdate: 2/9/21
Original Occupation: news editor
Original Hometown: Silver Spring, MD
Original Host: Ken Jennings
Morgan’s red shirt, fitted black jacket, and red glasses coordinate well with her earrings, which were one of the first accessories to catch my eye in the contestant headshots!
Morgan confirmed she got the Maryland flag earrings on Etsy here, but sadly they are sold out.
I did find these in the same teardrop shape (and made from recycled aluminum cans!)
as well as some diamond-shaped ones (and an EXTENSIVE array of Maryland-themed accessories) from YourMarylandStore on Etsy
Elizabeth Devereaux
Original Airdate: 7/21/21
Original Occupation: middle school teacher
Original Hometown: Lawrence, KS
Original Host: Robin Roberts
I love this style of blouse with the long sleeves (typically called “balloon sleeves” if you’re shopping for similar styles!) The pintuck pleats on the shoulders & buttons down the front are nice additional details. Her wide shiny bracelet was visible a few times when she held her buzzer with both hands.
Elizabeth’s father-in-law also got a featured cameo during her anecdote!
Ken Jennings
I know this tie is small paisleys, but the pattern of them always makes me imagine them as little blobs in a video game where you have to tetris them together in a certain formation.
The judges’ table has a new addition tonight, with someone sitting next to Producer Sarah Foss. In previous episodes when they show this camera angle, there is nobody between Sarah and the next guy (whose identity I’m not sure of, but he has been sitting there since the writers’ strike began.)
