Welcome to Day 2 of the first 14-day segment of the four-part Champions Wildcard that will last through December 18th and will feature 108 former champions (1, 2, and 3 day winners) from Season 37 and 38.
If that was a lot to digest, here’s a more visual explanation from the Jeopardy! website.
I’ll be continuing to publish all my full recaps right here on Substack, and maybe or maybe not posting on social media (links on my Linktree).
Lawrence Long
As one of the internet’s foremost stay-at-home uncle fans, I was excited to see Lawrence back on Jeopardy! I am really digging his Miami Vice-inspired colorful outfit tonight, complete with periwinkle blue jacket, vest, tie, pocket square, and boutonniere.
You couldn’t see them on air, but I have it on good authority that Lawrence was also rocking a pair of British Knights behind the podium.
(He wore boots last time.)
When Lawrence first appeared on Jeopardy! in 2022, his anecdote was about playing the conch at a beach wedding, and I made a tote bag to commemorate it. You can still get one in my Etsy store if you’re into that sort of thing.
Katrina Hill
I loved Katrina’s jacket in her first episode (7/28/22, see photo below) and I love this one too! She has a knack for picking great colors and I love the button details on this.
Side note, looking at the old contestant promo photos, I miss the Covid-era “standing six feet away from the host” photos where we got to see everyone’s full outfit!
Greg Marrero
I think striped ties look so good on TV! Interestingly, Ken doesn’t wear striped ties with his hosting outfits (though Alex Trebek used to.) Ken (or his stylist) seems to prefer geometric, dotted, and paisley patterns.
Greg did not wear a tie in his first game in 2020, so this is a step up!
Ken Jennings
This is the second time Ken has worn this tie. He wore it for the first time in April 2023 (April was a big month for Ken’s ties, with about 10 new ties debuting that month. I should make a graph of this!)
