We’re starting a new week of Second Chance with nine more Season 37 contestants. (If you’re wondering what’s going on this season & where these contestants came from, I wrote a quick explainer last week.)
I’ll be continuing to publish all my full recaps right here on Substack, and maybe or maybe not posting on social media (links on my Linktree).

The perfect tie does not exi—
OMG! Elliott is wearing a tie autographed by (presumably) his students. This is such a sweet idea! Also shoutout to Alexandra M for pulling a John Hancock.
In his previous appearance, Elliott wore a nice suit and tie, but tonight’s tie knocked it out of the park.
Deanna Bolio
Original Airdate: 11/18/20
Original Occupation: communications specialist
Original Hometown: Campbell, CA
Original Host: Alex Trebek
Such a pretty floral print! The monochrome color scheme looks so nice on her. Love the short flowy sleeves and her dangly earrings too.
She wore a brighter color ruffled blouse in her 2020 appearance which was also beautiful.
Matt Walks
Original Airdate: 3/18/21
Original Occupation: digital journalist
Original Hometown: Billings, MT
Original Host: Katie Couric
Matt looks pretty comfortable tonight with his sleeves rolled up! I thought this was a button-up shirt from the headshot but the collar is more of a polo-type situation (looks like a hidden placket, which means the buttoning-up part has an extra flap of fabric so the buttons aren’t visible when it’s closed.)
His outfit in 2021 was a much different style, with a shirt & tie & cozy sweater. It has been interesting seeing how some contestants wear very similar styles and some completely different.
I love that they have been turning the camera on the audience so often lately - mostly because the contestants are mentioning their friends and family in the audience! Here’s Matt’s girlfriend and her audience colleagues.
Ken Jennings
This tie drives me crazy because I can never decipher the exact pattern. I just call it “zigzag” for now. Ken wore this tie twice last season.
